Hello ryan. I have a ix, the aircon start making a noise like something tumbling in the fan of the blower, it was stoping when on the speed of the air. Suddenly it stop and burn the fuse, i replace the fuse mire times and burn the both as soon as i power on the ac. What could be happening?
I have a i convert. After a bit of research on bimmerforums, determined that he cause of my blower stopping was due to resistor. Had no idea where it was, but after watching this a couple of times, ordered replacement from amazon, within hrs of ordering part, it s in and fixed! Thank you so much! My grandkids call me gramma mcguyver!
Nice work my blower always works on speed but when i put speed and and it works for a bit then stops so do u think its the same problem with you? Thanks
Where does the dielectric grease go exactly?
Doe s this cover a i? I need to asap?
Great job, and hope you are still on line. But my question is that the fan for the ac heater does not work at all in my i. Could it be the just theresistoryou demonstrated so well on this video? Or the whole fan module could be bad too? Help. Thank you panacolusa. Com bert
That was a very good tutorial, much thanks. My blower only works on recently, and partsgeeks, or bavarian auto, both sell the blower resistor reasonably priced. I had a tail light issue as well but just had to adjust the switch above the brake pedal. Fixed. Now i m onto reverse light. Doesn t work. Also just found out why my alt wasn t charging, my batt indicator light was burnt out in the dash. Apparently that breaks the circuit. Fixed.
Thnx, great vid tutorial for me i have same problem, blower works only and, and isnt working atm. What is the part number of that resistor? Where you bought it? Thnx.
Good job, i develop labor times for bmw cars and i will be using yourinstructions for my nextlabor time update. Thanks
Great vid! Thanks for posting.
Amazing how easy it is to get in there. Much thanks for posting this. My weekend project coming up.
After reading, i better check my brake lights too. Nothing overhead indicating trouble, but visual is always best. Best of luck everyone!
I have an e ix as well as others, and and the blower shot craps, in the humid mid west, while my poser window fuse blew with the windows up, then accidentally hit the drivers seat heater on high to make matters unbearable. If you ve ever owned an ix you d know they are easily turned on by mistake due to their position. Funny now, but it felt like i was in some sort of comedy at the time. Great tips and very helpful info! Thanks for taking the time to document it for the rest of us!
Thank you! I have the same problem, only works on speed. Video really helped! Now to get me a resister.
You sir are a legend. Thankyou very much.
I would st check to make sure that the fuse should be fuse for the blower for e verify that fuse and contacts are good. Check the switch connections for lose wires or shorts. If no luck, try replacing the switch. Then try trouble shooting the blower.
Thanks! It s very helpful. I didn t replace the resistor tho. The problem i think is the rivet contacting the terminal loose or corroded, so the contact become poor. So soldering it resolve the problem i think. But buying new resistor not expensive either, around usd in my local bmw supply in indonesia.
Sorry, never had the pleasure of owning the flagship bmers. I would verify that the blower and the brake lights are on the same fuse. Check owners repair manual for fuse schematic. Replace both with new fuses or pull them out check the contacts okay and confirm the fuse is good. Check brake light bulbs contact make sure bulbs are good contacts clean. You may have bad brake light switch. Blower could be the speed switch? If it was the resistor it should blow on the highest speed only.
I have a bmw with a cylinders, i bought it when i was in europe. Very good technican info in your video. Keep up the good work and thank you.
